Singer song writer Edem KWAMEVI Agbottah was born in Dallas, Tx, to the Ghanaian Ewe Tribe. Kwamevi grew up influenced by a blend of West African and American traditions. At age 15, he started playing classical guitar, and moved to Corpus Christi, Tx to study cello and classical music. In 2016 he produced & released his first EP entitled “Shown Up.”
Since the release, he has performed, opening for various artists including; Groundation, New Kingston, Gonzo, & E.N Young. Kwamevi’s music shadows the nature of meditation, awareness, and self-reflection. His love for bamboo flutes, orchestral strings, & African rhythms are often projected in his unique style of reggae music. Much of his lyrical content reflects the teachings of mystics such as Osho, Krishnamurti, and artists like Vaughn Benjamin.
Kwamevi recorded his first full length album, “Faithful” at Imperial Sound Recording Studio in San Diego, CA. The new roots reggae album, featuring E.N Young & Karim Israel of Arise Roots, is now available on all digital outlets.
